Fathi Surur: Israel tries to change Qods identity
Egyptian Parliament Speaker Ahmed Fathi Surur said the Zionist regime is going to change the realities of the Holy Qods and Palestine geographically and demographically.
Delivering speech in the inaugural meeting of the 6th Inter-Parliamentary Conference in the Ugandan capital of Kampala on Saturday, he said all Muslims witnessed constant inhuman measures of the Zionist regime against Palestinians.
Fathi Surur added Palestine is an old wound on the heart of Muslims.
The Egyptian Parliament Speaker underscored that all Muslims were witness of the occupying regime's invasion of the Gaza Strip in 2009 and that it used forbidden weapons against the innocent Palestinian people.
He said the United Nations condemned the Zionist regime's crimes in Gaza in the Goldstone Report despite opposition of some countries, America in particular, stressing all the Islamic states should be united over supporting the issue.
He reiterated that a powerful diplomacy and Muslims' solidarity could help resolve the problem.
The Egyptian top parliamentarian said Cairo supports an independent state for the Palestinians with the Holy Qods as its capital.
After the speech, Presidency of the 6th Inter-Parliamentary Conference was officially transferred from the Egyptian Parliament Speaker to his Ugandan counterpart.
